Place known for their pan fried soup dumplings, and it makes sense. Their pan fried soup dumplings are crispy and the filling is so juicy and I've never seen so much soup stuffed in such a dumpling. The only critique I have is that the skin is really thick. I like thicker skin on dumplings for the chew, but even this was too much - it was nearing like a bao bun. The rest of the dishes were ok. I am a huge fan of salted egg yolk, so the salted egg yolk rice cake was a banger for me. The spring rolls and scallion pancakes were standard, pretty good. Overall would recommend this place for their special pan fried soup dumplings, super juicy!

I love this spot - it's clean, serves authentic and delicious Shanghainese food, service is efficient, staff are friendly, and it's open late. I usually come by myself and they have seating for individuals. So far I've tried: - sauteed shredded pork with pickled cabbage rice cake - the rice cakes were perfectly chewy and the pork was tender - beef noodle soup - the beef is so tender, the noodles have an excellent texture, and the broth was yummy I plan on trying the dumplings next time I'm back!

Upon passing by and seeing their cash and carry lunch special, I dropped by to grab lunch. 10$ for a filling lunch with a ton of sides was such a steal. This deal isn't very food restriction friendly as it changes everyday, but if you aren't picky, I recommend this spot. It tastes authentic and is quite affordable. If I'm craving some Chinese food in the area, I'd definitely check this spot out.

Came here last night and it's definitely a great spot for a good bang for your buck. Friends and I enjoyed various dishes such as the soup dumplings and mapo tofu. Upon going in it was not so busy until around 7pm but the ambiance other than that was Great to great some shanghainese comfort food and staff was very nice and accommodating.

Wanted to try a new spot before heading home going through the port authority. I picked up an order of wontons, drunken chicken and garlic cucumbers. My favorite were the dumplings which were meaty and flavorful in their wonderful chili sauce. I was very disappointed with the chicken as it didn't have much flavor, same for the cucumbers. I'd like to try a few other other items another day.

Shanghai Time in New York, NY. Shanghai Time is a casual dining cafe located in the heart of midtown Manhattan providing so many Shanghainese goodies like Sheng Jian Bao, also known as "Pan-Fried Buns". We all have had soup dumplings but have you tried Shanghai Time Special Panfried Pork Soup Dumplings? They are a super delicious take on the traditional Xiao Long Bao. Service was super fast! My friend and I met for a quick soup dumpling meal. Service was slow. Food was overall OK. We ordered the following: 1) Crabmeat with Pork Pan Fried Soup Dumplings: we personally enjoyed them because they were not the typical steamed soup dumplings. 2) Beef Scallion Pancake: we enjoyed the crust, but, thought the beef filling a little salty. 3) 5 Star Combo Soup Dumplings: These were ok. We have had better. 4) Shumai with sticky rice and bacon: this was our least favorite dish. 5) Jumbo Wonton Soup with Pork and Leeks: This was our favorite dish and was enough to feed 2 people. It is worth ordering. I'd personally return to try the menu items such as Sautéed udon noodles, pan-fried soup dumplings with pork and shrimp, and pork only, buns and the desserts.
